Shutoff Rescue Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 27, 2026 · Android package org.shutoffrescue.app

Shutoff Rescue is a do-it-yourself Android app for people facing an electric, gas, or water shutoff notice in the United States. It is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.

What the app stores

Shutoff Rescue is offline-first. It does not create accounts and does not operate a Shutoff Rescue server.

That information stays on the phone except when you choose to share it (for example through Android’s share sheet, dialer, browser, or calendar).

What we do not collect

The supplied build does not include advertising, analytics, crash reporters, or login. We do not sell personal information. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, bank passwords, or payment-card numbers.

On-device text recognition

Notice photos are read on the device with a bundled Google ML Kit Latin text-recognition model. The app does not request Android internet permission. Official help links open in your browser. Those sites have their own privacy practices.

Changes

We will update this page if a later version adds accounts, a server, or any data that leaves the device without you sharing it.
